Pre-care pointers

Your hair should be at least 1/8 inches in length. Please don't shave for at least 10 days prior to your appointment.

For women's bikini treatments- it is best to get a bikini treatment when you are free of period. If possible, wear loose clothing that day to prevent irritation in the post-wax phase.

Even though we are all about sterilization, there is still a chance that waxing can result in minor bumps, rashes, etc… for super sensitive skin types. It can be treated with over the counter topicals like hydrocortisone cream. If such irritation persists, recommend you see a dermatologist.

Post-care pointers

Common concerns after waxing include, “I had my eyebrows waxed yesterday and have a nasty rash, redness and bumps where the wax was applied. Post-care treatment of the skin after any type of waxing is incredibly important. Breakouts on the upper lip caused from waxing can be preventing. Actually it is not really pimples. It is a histamine reaction. To avoid the bumps clients should take something to help with histamine reactions before they get hair removal, like Benadryl.

After waxing irritation can be treated with over the counter topicals, Finipil or H.Ogel (available in Salon).

Post-care Do's

It also alleviates the symptoms typical for hair removal, such as reddening of the skin, burning sensations and pain.

Applied twice daily to epilated skin in the first month. Total hair reduction is achieved within six months. To preserve results, H.Ogel must be applied twice weekly.

Exfoliants. These are ideal to rid the follicle of dry skin, dirt and debris.

Post-care Don’ts

Avoid UV Rays, such as direct sunlight or tanning booths, at least 48 hours.

Avoid visiting the gym or taking a hot shower for eight hours.

Eliminate the use of any aggressive skin care products for 24–48 hours on treated areas.

Brazilian

Expect to be sensitive. For 48 hours after the treatment, the area will be more sensitive than usual. Apply cold compresses and an anti-inflammatory cream, such as Finipil.

Use warm water. Do not taking hot baths for at least two days. Clients should resist the sauna and steam room for at least 48 hours.

Clients should abstain from sex. Medical experts recommend waiting 24 hours after any type of bikini wax before engaging in sex. This time period is when your body can be most susceptible to outside bacteria, which can potentially cause an infection. It is better to abstain, but is not required. It is really a personal choice.

Clients need to refrain from the use of any products containing acid, such as alpha hydroxy, glycolic acid and salicylic acid, for 48 hours.

Attention Brazilian waxing: An outbreak of herpes may occur in virus-carrying individuals. It is recommended that you ask your physician for medication to suppress such an outbreak.

Please, do not wax if you have any of the following conditions: chronic kidney or liver disease, weaken immune system, diabetes, varicose veins, phlebitis, recent scar tissue, sunburned skin, moles, psoriasis or any other dermatological ailments; also, if you are using any of the following medicines or products (which make your skin ultra-sensitive): Accutane, Tetracycline, Alpha hydroxy products.
